About

Trading Simulator is a free educational tool for practising trades on real historical markets — with the rules, risk and discipline habits built in.

What it is

Pick a historic market condition — Black Monday 1987, the dot-com crash, the 2008 financial crisis and others — and trade it bar by bar. Every trade goes through a five-point pre-trade checklist, is sized from a fixed risk rule, and carries a stop that fills the way stops really filled that day.

After each trade the journal scores your discipline from 0–100, tracks your win rate and expectancy, and flags the trades where you stretched the size. The point is not to beat the market — it's to build the routine you'd need before risking real money.

Free, no account

Everything here is free. No account, no card, no sign-in. Your journal is saved only in this browser's local storage — it never leaves your device — and you can export it as CSV at any time.

Where the data comes from

The historical prices are bundled with the site: S&P 500 daily data for the equity scenarios and exchange-rate data for the currency scenarios. The Black Monday 5-minute opening-bell session is a labelled reconstruction built from the official daily record and the SEC's 1988 report on the crash — no free minute-by-minute record of that morning exists.

The Data page lists each dataset, its granularity and its limits.

Not real trading

Trading Simulator is educational simulation. Nothing here is financial advice, and no money is at risk — the trades you place are against recorded history, not a live market. Past market behaviour does not predict future results, and simulated fills are simpler than real execution: no commissions, spreads or financing are modelled, so real results would be worse.
